Kia Sedan Safety Awards | Harlingen, TX

Most drivers make safety their top priority when shopping for a new vehicle. Medical professionals have witnessed the dangers of driving in an unsafe vehicle firsthand in the emergency room while teachers keep their students’ safety in mind when traveling to competitions or field trips. Most of all, parents with kids at home — whether actual children or four-legged friends — want advanced safety technologies to protect their most precious cargo. We recommend one of Kia’s new Forte or Optima sedans, which have been recognized with the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s top honor.

2019 Kia Forte

New Forte Inventory

The 2019 Forte earned the IIHS’s Top Safety Pick+ distinction when equipped with specific headlights. This is the organization’s highest award level. Most notably, Automatic Emergency Braking comes standard on the Kia Forte across all trim levels. Also standard are Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist and Lane Keeping Assist. Optional driver-assist safety technologies include Smart Cruise Control, High Beam Assist, and Blind-Spot Collision Warning.

The 2019 Kia Forte uses 54 percent advanced high-strength steel for the body structure and boasts six advanced air bags. Other standard safety features include the Traction Control System, Electronic Stability Control, Hill Start Assist Control, an Antilock Braking System, and the Brake Assist System.

2019 Kia Optima

New Optima Inventory

Like the Forte, the 2019 Optima brought home the highest distinction from the IIHS: Top Safety Pick+, when equipped with specific headlights. Also like the Forte, the Kia Optima comes standard with Auto Emergency Braking. Blind-Spot Collision Warning also comes standard, as do Forward Collision-Avoidance Assistance with Pedestrian Detection and Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keeping Assist. Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go is available.

The 2019 Kia Optima also uses advanced high strength steel for increased body rigidity. Other safety features include the Traction Control System, Hill-Start Assist Control, Electronic Brake-Force Distribution, and the Brake-Assist System.
