Kia has joined the big leagues with eight Insurance Institute for Highway Safety top safety ratings — with a combination of Top Safety Pick and Top Safety Pick+ award winners. With eight wins, Kia is officially tied for being the automaker with the most IIHS safety awards for the 2021 model year.

Recent IIHS safety award recipients include the 2021 Kia K5 sedan (replacement for the outgoing Optima) and the 2021 Kia Seltos. These two brought Kia to the eight-vehicle mark with their wins.
Specifically, the 2021 Kia K5 earned the Top Safety Pick+ distinction while the 2021 Kia Seltos nabbed a Top Safety Pick distinction.1,2
